The goal with this new kit is for hot rodders to be able to do the conversion while keeping the "engine in the front driving the rear wheels" arrangement of classic muscle cars. GM modded the motor, changing it from a transaxle setup to one with longitudinal mechanical power so it can drive the back wheels like a traditional gas engine. In fact, due to the rear-mounted batteries, the weight of the car remained about the same but is biased to the rear, perfect for dragstrip launches. Obviously, this weighs quite a bit less than the engine we removed.
